This
story on the surface is about Christmas - but it applies to
everyday.
If you can
adjust your thinking
all things are
possible.
DISCOVER
YOUR CHRISTMAS PRECIOUS PRESENT
I
speak and interact with so many people seeking to look good and
from looking good feeling good about themselves – BUT really the
reverse
holds
more truth. If you first feel good
inside then you will
radiate beauty into
your outer world.
Christmas
is that special time of year
where there is so much activity. Thoughts go to the future of what is
to come,
of presents, of festive fare, of family, friends.
For
some Christmas is a lonely time, a past time
to remember and reflect on what was. For children it is all about that
one
special day and how to hasten its arrival.
May
I relate a story about a young boy
listening to an old happy and cheerful man who was talking about a
Precious Present.
The
boy was keen to get such a present for
the old man told him that anyone receiving this Precious Present would
be happy
forever.
The boy gave lots of thought to
this for he knew about presents, the bicycle he had got for his
birthday and
the presents under the Tree at Christmas, but he also knew that the
joys of
these presents did not last forever.
He
felt uneasy, what could this Precious Present
be that could make him happy for ever?
The
boy grew into a man and still his quest for the Precious Present
remained unanswered, and he was not achieving in life what he wanted.
His disappointment turned to anger
that no
one had given him this Precious Present when he was a child.
In
his frustration and anger he sought out
the old man and shouted “Why don’t you just tell me what the Precious
Present
is?”
“Only you have the power to make
yourself happy” the old man said “Only you”
The
boy – now a man spent many frustrating
years searching, he read the latest books, he looked into a mirror and
into the
faces of others.
He looked at the tops
of Mountains, in cold dark caves, in the jungles and under the seas –
but to no
avail.
After
many more years the once young man
returned to talk to the old man for he was very unhappy.
The old man however had grown even
older and
soon his voice was not heard.
The young
boy – now a man was on his own but recalled what the old happy man had
told him
many years ago, that he was the only one that could find his own
happiness.
He
tried to understand what he had been told
but had grown so tired of trying that he simply gave up.
And
then out of nowhere it
just….happened.He
realised that the
Precious Present was just that:
THE
PRESENT - not the past, not the future but THE PRECIOUS
PRESENT.
“Why”
he asked himself “Didn’t I see this
long ago?”
In
his questioning of himself he became unhappy but observed he was
trapped about
his guilt over his past.
He returned to
the present moment and was happy again.
Soon he began to worry about the
future and became unhappy again, but
had the wisdom to see he was now living in the future – so the man
chose to
live in the NOW and was happy and at peace with himself.
He agreed to savour each moment of his
life,
the apparently good and the apparently bad.
He accepted
each of his precious moments on this planet as…….a gift.
The
moral of the story is some people
choose to receive the Precious Present when they are young, others in
middle
age and some when they are very old.Sadly some people never do.
You
can choose to receive the PRECIOUS PRESENT whenever you decide to do so.
Pain
is just the difference between “What
Is” and “What I Want It To Be”.
The
Present is simply who I am, just the
way I am…right now and it is precious.
Live in the NOW
and experience all that
life has to offer, a more healthy body and skin, a joyful attitude and
have a
fantastic ride on the “River Of Life”

The Value Of Time
Imagine
there is a bank which credits your account each morning with
$86,400; carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no
cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you
had failed to use during the day.
What
would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!
Well,
everyone has such a bank.
Its
name is TIME.
Every
morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every
night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to
invest to good purpose.
It
carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.
Each
day it opens a new account for you.
Each
night it burns the records of the day.
If you
fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going
back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow".
You
must live in the present on today's deposits.
Invest
it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!
